These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Retriv.ai's document extraction and processing platform, including our website, APIs, software, and related services (collectively, the "Service").
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
2. Account Registration
To use the Service, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Provide accurate, complete registration information
- Maintain the security of your account credentials
- Promptly notify us of any unauthorized use
- Be responsible for all activities under your account
You may not share your API keys or allow multiple users to access a single account unless you have an Enterprise plan that permits this.
3. Use of the Service
3.1 Permitted Use
You may use the Service to process documents and extract structured data for lawful business purposes in accordance with these Terms and applicable laws.
3.2 Prohibited Use
You may NOT:
- Violate any laws, regulations, or third-party rights
- Process documents you don't have permission to access
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service
- Use the Service to train competing ML models
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits or usage restrictions
- Use automated tools to scrape or abuse the Service
- Process illegal content (CSAM, terrorist content, etc.)
- Resell or redistribute the Service without authorization
- Transmit viruses, malware, or malicious code
4. Pricing and Payment
4.1 Plans and Pricing
Current pricing is available at retriv.ai/pricing. We offer Free, Growth, Pro, and Enterprise plans. Usage is billed based on credits consumed.
4.2 Billing
- Subscription fees are billed monthly or annually in advance
- Overage charges are billed monthly in arrears
- All fees are non-refundable except as required by law
- You authorize us to charge your payment method on file
- Failed payments may result in service suspension
4.3 Price Changes
We may change our pricing with 30 days' notice. Continued use after price changes constitutes acceptance.
5. Data and Privacy
5.1 Your Data
You retain all rights to documents you upload ("Your Data"). You grant us a limited license to process Your Data solely to provide the Service.
5.2 Zero Data Retention

We do not store, log, or retain Your Data after processing. Documents are deleted immediately after API response. We do not use Your Data for model training.
5.3 Compliance
You are responsible for ensuring Your Data complies with applicable laws (GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA, etc.). We provide tools to help you comply, but ultimate responsibility is yours.
6. Intellectual Property
6.1 Our IP
Retriv.ai and all related technology, software, algorithms, models, and documentation are our proprietary property. You receive no IP rights except the limited license to use the Service.
6.2 Your IP
You retain all rights to Your Data and any outputs generated by the Service. Outputs are yours to use without restriction.
6.3 Feedback
If you provide feedback, suggestions, or ideas, we may use them without obligation or compensation to you.
7. Service Level and Availability
- We target 99.9% uptime for paid plans (see SLA for details)
- Free plans have no uptime guarantee
- We may perform scheduled maintenance with advance notice
- Service may be temporarily unavailable due to factors beyond our control
8. Warranties and Disclaimers
Important Legal Notice
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not guarantee that the Service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that outputs will be 100% accurate. You are responsible for validating all outputs before use in critical applications.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
- Our total liability is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim
- We are not liable for losses caused by your misuse of the Service
- You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your use
10. Termination
10.1 By You
You may cancel your account at any time. Cancellation is effective at the end of your billing period. No refunds for partial months.
10.2 By Us
We may suspend or terminate your account for violations of these Terms, non-payment, or illegal use. We will provide notice when reasonably possible.
10.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination, your access ends immediately. We will delete your account data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
11. Dispute Resolution
- These Terms are governed by California law
- Disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration (JAMS rules)
- Arbitration will be in San Francisco, CA
- No class actions or jury trials
- You may opt out of arbitration within 30 days of account creation
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified via email or prominent notice 30 days in advance. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
13. Miscellaneous
- Entire Agreement: These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Retriv.ai
- Severability: If any provision is unenforceable, others remain in effect
- No Waiver: Failure to enforce a right does not waive it
- Assignment: You may not assign these Terms; we may assign to affiliates or acquirers
- Force Majeure: Neither party is liable for delays due to events beyond their control
